Just wanted to share my clumsy story….

Ever since I have experienced camping during high school., I have been such a fan of adventure sports. Well, not too extreme but I prefer this kinds of sports rather than engaging in some contact sports. I love sports climbing.

When we were in CAT Camping, I have first experienced rappelling, combat games etc, I felt really nervous when were asked to go down on a hill around 3 storey building by just a rope tied to my waist and holding it to stay put. I was really scared. OMG, how am I supposed to do this? What made it scarier is that the girl before me was annoyingly screaming and didn’t even move for more than an hour. I was like, was this supposed to be this hard? Anyway, time for my turn, I was shaking and so scared, I didn’t scream though. Haha.  But I got anxious that it was me who has to move the rope for me to go down. What if I accidentally let go of the rope, so I was clinging for my dear life, and slowly, I appreciated it and enjoyed it. I learned to trust myself and to trust the people who says I can do it. I enjoyed and learned as well.

barefoot wall climbing. my first time and i forgot to bring my socks. sucks to be me...

Anyway since then, I got addicted to climbing and anything that has to do with ropes. I wall climbed, I have jumped and climbed caves urgh! what else, I mean there are lots I can’t  remember everything.

Knee Boarding at CWC

Just recently, I got fascinated with surface water sports. My first was knee boarding which I was able to accomplish.

haha my friend luckily shot the exact wave that sprained my knee i was brought by the waves in the shore.. and my knees hurt big time

We went to La Union to try out SURFING. But apparently I was the only one that was not able to do so. I got sprain on my knee EVEN BEFORE I stepped on the surf board.sheesh… Gosh I was so clumsy. I was playing with the big waves when a super big one hit me and there, I got sprained. Good thing, my boyfriend and I knows first aid. So I wrapped my knees with the scarf I bought at Baguio and then rushed to hospital to get some first aid. As soon as I got back to manila, my knees got aspirated (sucked the blood on my right knee) I am so scared of needles but what scared me more was the doctor saying I have to stay put or else the needle might break inside my knee. Wow.. That really freaked me a lot. And now here I am undergoing therapy.

With this lot, what I am trying to say is that, you really have to be careful on what ever you have to do. It is called accident cos you wouldn’t know when it will happen. In situations like this, the first aid is to cover the sprained area with bandage to minimize its movements. Hot and Cold Compress are good to soothe the pain, my therapist Miss Mitch told me so. Remember the ratio 4:1 4 minutes of Hot Compress and 1 min of Cold. Repeat four times.  It is also good for chronic (recurring) pains. And always ask for advice of the doctors.  don’t go to manghihilot cos they wouldn’t know what part was damaged. and they might even dislocate your bones. urgh that would hurt big time.

On a brighter note, I learned to control the wheel chair. I was so bored while waiting for the doctor that I played with the wheelchair. Also, I am now exercising! Haha. And I got another accomplishment! I didn’t cry during the aspiration procedure. I am so afraid of needles that when I was first confined in the hospital (I was 18) I cried like a baby “oh don’t you put that thing on me!!!!” in Filipino. Oh I did not faint!!! And also, I’d like to say thanks to my friends and my boyfriend who was so helpful when I got this clumsy accident. Most of all my friend Sche who stayed with me till I got medication. I was so emo that time that I almost cried while waiting for the doctor because just seeing the way my friends supported me wow, it eased the pain a lot.. Haha (di niyo alam yon no). My bf Anthony, I love being loved by him… :D sheeeh… i’ll stop the drama crap here.

If there is one lesson I learned from this experience (I got to learn lessons in life…just like my first rappel), is that waves are like things in life that happens inevitably.  You can run before it hits you. Or you could swim and just jump every time  a wave passes and enjoy swimming with it. You can also stay put. It is good to stand up feeling the splash hits your body but you will notice your feet is slowly getting buried in the sand making it hard for you to move which makes your preparation for the next wave shorter. It doesn’t matter if you fall you could always stand up. If in case like me you got hurt, don’t be afraid to swim once again and play with those beautiful waves again. The waves doesn’t ever stop. Why would you?

PS try surfing. My friends enjoyed it pretty much and wanting to go back.. Hopefully I can too! Sooner! Haha!
